When a person is asleep they cannot smell smoke! The wireless transmission technology in these alarms means that when one alarm triggers, it will set off all alarms connected in the network. This highly reduces danger, as the whole house is alerted.
Up to 20 alarms can be connected using wireless technology.
These alarms come with 10 year batteries, and a remote can be purchased to operate them if desired. (Look for Alarm Remote 7477R)
